Pretty Axel

Axel is a beautiful 15 month old Standard Poodle who is looking for his perfect forever home. This perfect home would be an active family with older children (Axel is still quite excitable and could easily knock over smaller children). This family would need to commit to his continued training to manage his impulse control and keep him engaged and fulfilled. He could be a single dog or share the household with a calm female dog who would be willing to play with him.

Axel does not have a lot of training under his collar but, like all standard poodles, he is VERY smart and very trainable. Since living with his foster family he has learned to wait quietly at the door before going out for his walk, and sitting and waiting quietly for his meals. He has just about mastered the Down command and is working on his loose leash walking. He has absolutely no recall so he will definitely need training in this skill before he can safely be let off the lead. He is very food motivated so successes celebrated with a treat/reward will be a good training method.

Axel is housetrained and uses the dog door to go in and out of the house. He is crate trained and happily goes into his crate and sleeps through the night. He can be a bit territorial with toys with other dogs, but easily gives them up to his human. He will need regular grooming and behaves well when being handled.

Axel loves being around people and is happiest when he is in the thick of things, whether it be playing or hanging out on the couch. He will be a dedicated and loving companion to whoever is lucky enough to have him in their lives.
