Pretty Pearla

This cheeky little monkey will have you in tears of laughter on a regular basis. She has a whole lot of opinions, confidence,  and energy for a small cat, and throws her whole heart and body into everything she does. She will run to the door to greet yoy, and follow you around the house like a dog. If your life we would be improved by 2.5kg of pure love and chaos, this is the cat for you.

This cuddly, playful, intelligent, and brave little poppet came to us from Broome. The white spot on her chest looks like a pearl pendant, giving her her name. She was found inside the chicken coop of the caretaker at a transport yard on the outskirts of town, then caught by the council ranger in a trap. She sat in the Broome pound for a week, but no one collected her, so she was due to be put to sleep. Luckily, a lovely vet nurse saw how lovely she was  and arranged for her to fly down to Perth to come into foster care.

Pearla has a small lump on her sternum which doesn’t seem to affect her. It has been xrayed and examined by the vet, who says she likely broke it as a baby and it fused and mended in the wrong spot. It certainly doesn’t slow her down or stop her from racing up cat towers and chasing toys!

Pearla adapted to the luxury of living in a home full time very quickly, loving sleeping on the bed snuggled up with her foster carer, zooming around on tiled floors, and playing with absolutely everything she can get her paws on.

Able to come,  sit, and, jump over her foster carer’s legs, and hit a target stick on command already, perfectly litter trained and a dedicated devotee of her scratching post, Pearla is a quick learner with lots of potential for training and agility work. She is showing a keen interest in the “talking pet” buttons her foster carer’s own cat uses, and seems to be on the verge of using them herself too.

Pearla loves other cats, but will definitely rule the roost, swatting at and hissing at any cat who crosses her boundaries, even if they are three times her size. She doesn’t ever hurt them or start fights, she just strongly states her opinion. Her curiosity and love of company always wins out though, and she will win over any cat who enjoys energetic physical playtimes and cuddles. We suspect she would do similarly well with dogs.

Pearla has gotten on very well in foster care with 2 Milo, a huge grey panther who is a spiky marshmallow on the inside. He is also up for adoption, so if you have room in your heart and home to adopt another, he would be an excellent addition!
